It's with sadness we learn of the death of a young man following a stabbing incident on the Prospect Estate in Farnborough where Hope Pentecostal Community Church meets.
Some of us at HPCC live on the estate and have raised our children here. To discover that a young man has lost his life after being stabbed by assailants affects us and grieves us deeply.
We pray and we will stand to pray with anyone for healing, forgiveness and unity in this awful situation. We pray that all involved, the relations and friends of the young man, those who witnessed the terrible act, all those affected will be comforted by the presence of God, by knowledge of the forgiveness that Jesus showed and the love of God for all of us, whoever we are and whatever we have done.
We pray for all those who because of their job become involved this event. We pray for the Police, the Ambulance Service, the Health Professionals, those who will be called to counsel and all others.
Each and every one of us is precious and of infinite value and worth in the eyes of God who created us. In the Old Testament we read of God's love for us in many places.
“Can a woman forget her nursing child,
or lack compassion for the child of her womb?
Even if these forget,
yet I will not forget you.Isaiah 49:15
Jesus reminds us again in the New Testament of His love for us.
What do you think? If a man has 100 sheep, and one of them goes astray, won't he leave the 99 on the hillside and go and search for the stray? And if he finds it, I assure you: He rejoices over that sheep more than over the 99 that did not go astray. In the same way, it is not the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones perish.Matthew 18:12-14
We are created by God and have our life through and in Him. None have a right to take that life away, neither man nor state.
